National Night Out Brings D.C. Law Enforcement, National Guard and Community Together

The District of Columbia National Guard Counterdrug Program participated in the Metropolitan Police Department's 41st annual National Night Out celebration in Southeast Washington, D.C., August 6, 2024. The community-building campaign occurs the first Tuesday of August each year and is held by law enforcement agencies across the country.

The District of Columbia National Guard’s State Tuition Assistance Program (DCTA) offers Guardsmen tuition assistance to any accredited educational degree program anywhere in the United States offering up to $12,500 per fiscal year. To qualify for DCNG TA you must be a current member of the D.C. National Guard and have at least one year of service remaining at the completion of your degree requirement.

Participants of the 2024 Marion Barry Summer Youth Employment Program attend orientation at the D.C. Armory, June 26. The cohort, comprised of young adults age 18-21, will gain exposure in approx. a dozen work-centers within the D.C. National Guard and D.C. Government Operations-DCNG until Aug. 2. Orientation day included meetings with Marcus Hunt, director, D.C. Government Operations-DCNG, and Maj. Gen. John C. Andonie, Commanding General (interim), D.C. National Guard. Participants also received a tour of the D.C. National Guard Museum highlighting 222-years of service to the nation and District.
