WASHINGTON –
For 365 days, Soldiers and Airmen from 30 states, territories, and the District of Columbia have answered the call to serve in the nation’s capital as part of Joint Task Force–District of Columbia. But the story of the Make DC Safe and Beautiful mission is more than a timeline of events or a collection of statistics. It is the story of the people who showed up every day—serving on streets, at Metro stations, alongside law enforcement and interagency partners, and throughout communities across the District.
Listen to our senior and junior leaders as they reflect on the mission through their own experiences—sharing the people they encountered, the lessons they learned, and the moments that reminded them why their service mattered. From presence patrols and major national events to medical emergencies, community engagements and unexpected moments of humanity, Guardsmen were called upon to remain ready, exercise sound judgment and serve with professionalism and discipline.
A year of partnerships.
A year of impact.
A year of service.
Every patrol had purpose. Every interaction mattered. Every day was an opportunity to serve. This is their story.
