WASHINGTON –
Capital Guardians,
With the holiday season upon us, I want to reflect and recognize the exceptional commitment, sacrifice, and professionalism each of you displayed throughout the year. Whether in training, deployment, operations, or support roles, you have embodied the values that define our Army and Air National Guard. As we celebrate this season, let us honor those who came before us and those who continue to build and strengthen this great organization.
This time of year, may bring both joy and challenges. For many, it stirs a wide range of emotions, especially given the weight of events locally and abroad. Resiliency means finding strength amid adversity and adapting to life’s ebbs and flows. With that in mind, consider a few important reminders:
Promote self-care: Take moments for yourself amidst the busyness. Whether through quiet reflection, time with loved ones, or activities that bring you joy, prioritize your well-being.
Seek support: It is not a weakness to ask for help. Lean on family, friends, chaplains, or professional resources—sharing your burdens can lighten the load.
Focus on gratitude: Even in difficult times, seeking out moments of gratitude can shift your perspective and foster positivity.
Look forward: The new year brings the promise of fresh beginnings. Hold onto hope and face the future with optimism.
Resiliency does not mean ignoring the struggles we face. It is about acknowledging them, asking for help when needed, and pushing forward. Whether you are battling stress, substance issues, or deeper challenges, reaching out is a courageous act of strength — not weakness. Support is always within reach. Finally, I want to express my deepest respect and gratitude for your sacrifices. Serving far from home and loved ones demands an immense strength of character. Your efforts, both at home and abroad, make a lasting impact, and the nation stands behind you with appreciation and pride.
