WASHINGTON, DC - Celebrating Equality and Inclusivity on #WomensEqualityDay! Although military women have been breaking barriers for more than 200 years, they were not recognized as formal members until 1948. The photo was taken in the D.C. National Guard Armory in the 1960s. Women started out as caretakers and nurses, taking care of the men in war. Today, women are alongside their male counterparts.
