KINGSTON - The D.C. National Guard joined the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) for a recruiting and retention subject matter expert exchange (SMEE) event, virtually and at the JDF training center in Kingston, Jamaica, July 19, 2023. The SMEE included professionals who specialize in recruiting and retention, information management, and public affairs from both forces. The partners exchanged the tools, best practices, successes and challenges used to ensure a sufficient and quality population of Soldiers, for both active and reserve component missions and needs. Over the 24-year partnership under The National Guard State Partnership Program (SPP), the partners have hosted various exchanges at respective home stations to further the SPP intent of building trust, confidence and capabilities among one another.

U.S. Soldiers from the Alabama Army National Guard arrive at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, to support the Joint Task Force–District of Columbia’s security mission in Southeast D.C. with foot patrols and medic support. About 2,300 National Guard members are supporting the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission providing critical support to the D.C.
