WASHINGTON - The District of Columbia National Guard (DCNG) changed responsibility of the Command Senior Enlisted Leader from Command Sgt. Maj. (Ret.) Michael F. Brooks to Command Sgt. Maj. Ronald A. Smith, Jr. Brooks served in the DCNG for 17 of his 28 years of service. He filled positions at every echelon of leadership from his time with the active Army to his last day as a Capital Guardian. Smith has nearly 33 years of service and has been a command sergeant major for six units and organizations. He bring a wealth of leadership and mentorship experience to the DCNG. Major Gen. U.S. Soldiers from the Alabama Army National Guard arrive at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, to support the Joint Task Force–District of Columbia’s security mission in Southeast D.C. with foot patrols and medic support. About 2,300 National Guard members are supporting the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission providing critical support to the D.C.
