Washington, D.C. - District of Columbia National Guard members mobilized today to support multiple civilian agencies to include Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office, the D.C. Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and Metropolitan Police Department in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic on March 24, 2020.. The DCNG soldiers are manning street closure checkpoints and will provide support for medical screening, transportation, logistics and more as needed. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by Staff Sgt. U.S. Soldiers from the Alabama Army National Guard arrive at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, to support the Joint Task Force–District of Columbia’s security mission in Southeast D.C. with foot patrols and medic support. About 2,300 National Guard members are supporting the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission providing critical support to the D.C.
