CGYCA Class 63 Celebrates New Milestones
December 16, 2024 — Cadets of the Capital Guardian Youth Challenge Academy Class 63 receive their diplomas upon completion of a 22 week-long “quasi-military" course, during a residential phase commencement ceremony at the University of the District of Columbia, Dec.13, 2024. Toy Ruck Exemplifies D.C. National Guard’s Enduring Commitment to Community
December 7, 2024 — More than 450 members of the District of Columbia National Guard, Maryland National Guard, Virginia National Guard, National Guard Bureau (NGB), various DoD partners, D.C. Government Operations-DCNG, Mayor’s Office of Veterans Affairs, and ROTC programs participated in a 5-mile holiday toy ruck in partnership with Children’s National Hospital, in Washington, D.C. Participants were asked to bring a toy or purchase one. Additional donations were collected during a holiday toy drive at the D.C. Armory and the Herbert R. Temple Jr. Army National Guard Readiness Center (TARC), and later presented to children who will spend the holidays at the Children’s National Hospital... MORE

The DC National Guard Counterdrug Program partnered with the DEA and Metropolitan Police Department for National Prescription Take Back Day at multiple locations in Washington, D.C., on October 26, 2024. Take Back Day encouraged community members to prevent medication misuse by clearing out their medicine cabinets. By participating, the DC National Guard aimed to foster a healthier, drug-free environment for all.

U.S. Army 1LT Mohammed Wardeh receives his direct commission to the rank of first lieutenant during a commissioning ceremony at the D.C. Armory on Nov. 7, 2024. In 2016, Wardeh enlisted in the New York National Guard as an infantryman and transitioned to the D.C. National Guard as an officer candidate in 2021. He was selected through the Army Talent Innovation Program and now serves as a 26B Data Systems Engineer.
