‘Ready to respond to the unknowns’: Vehicle-Mounted Radiological Detection System (VMRDS) elevates CST interoperability

National Guard Bureau (NGB) J39 hosted a WMD-CST Capabilities Symposium allowing federal partners, state/local agencies, and civilian first responders to get an up-close look at the 33rd Weapons of Mass Destruction Civil Support Team (WMD-CST) at the D.C. Armory, Nov. 6, 2023. The team is able to deploy rapidly, respond to an incident within 90 minutes and assist local first-responders in determining the nature of a weapon of mass destruction or chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive incidents. Jennifer Hickey completes her 240th marathon in Arlington, Va., during the Marine Corps Marathon, Oct. 29, 2023. Hickey ran in honor of Spc. Darryl T. Dent, a District of Columbia National Guard member assigned to the 547th Transportation Company. Capital Guardians join State Partnership Program allies for annual planning

U.S. Army and Air Force subject matter experts with the District of Columbia National Guard joined their Jamaican Defense Force (JDF) counterparts June 27-28 in Kingston, Jamaica to hold the annual JDF-DCNG planning meeting for the Defense Department’s State Partnership Program (SPP), administered by the National Guard Bureau. The two organizations have been conducting military engagements, including subject matter expert exchanges, key leader engagements and familiarization visits since the partnership began in 1999.
