Chief Master Sgt. Anthony D. "Tony" Sims

State Command Chief Master Sgt.

CMSgt. Anthony D. Sims is twelfth District of Columbia Air National Guard State Command Chief. Chief Sims directly advises and provides strategic advice to the Commanding General on enlisted issues concerning training, readiness, morale, welfare, and proper utilization and the professional development of the D.C. Air National Guard's enlisted force.

Chief Sims entered the Air Force in 1990. His background includes several Regular Air Force positions, including a special duty assignment to Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, D.C.; he was assigned to the United States Air Force Honor Guard as a Pallbearer and an Air Education and Training Command Training Instructor. Chief Sims joined the Maryland Air National Guard's 175th Wing, where he deployed three times in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and once in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. His background includes numerous leadership roles at the flight, squadron, group, wing, and state levels.

Chief Sims served as the Maryland Air National Guard State Command Chief and the Command Senior Enlisted Leader of the Maryland National Guard where he served as the primary Enlisted advisor to the Adjutant General on all enlisted matters for 4,350 Soldiers and 1,400 Airmen in the state of Maryland on training, operations, family matters, health and welfare of the force and professional development. Prior to his current assignment, Chief Sims served as the Senior Enlisted Leader, Joint Forces Headquarters, District of Columbia National Guard, Washington D.C. where he provided strategic advice to the Director of the Joint Staff on enlisted force matters, promotes discipline and professional development, and ensures the welfare and readiness of the enlisted personnel within the D.C. National Guard.
