LTC Paul Grandpierre is a native New Yorker currently serving as the Staff Judge Advocate with the District of Columbia National Guard (DCNG). He received his direct commission in the Army in 2009 and completed the 180th Judge Advocate Officer Basic Course in May 2010. Since commissioning, LTC Grandpierre has served in both traditional and full-time roles with the DCNG. He also served on active duty with the National Guard Bureau (NGB) and mobilized with the 42nd Infantry Division in support of Operation Inherent Resolve and Operation Spartan Shield where he served as Administrative Law Attorney and Chief, Administrative Law.
LTC Grandpierre’s active-duty service as a Judge Advocate began in 2011 with the NGB’s Office of the Chief Counsel. After completing his assignment with NGB, he completed the 63d The Judge Advocate General’s Legal Center and School’s 63d Graduate Course in May 2015, where he graduated with a Master of Laws in Military Law with a specialty in Administrative and Civil Law. In 2017, he served as the full-time Command Judge Advocate for the DCARNG’s Land Component Command and accessed into the Active Guard Reserve program in 2018. While LTC Grandpierre has expertise in administrative law, he also has extensive experience in domestic operations and possesses a personnel development skill identifier or PDSI skill in Defense Support of Civil Authorities or DSCA (D7A).
