At the request of civil authorities, these National Guard service members provide critical support in areas such as crowd management, traffic control, CBRN response, civil disturbance management, and sustainment operations. Their expertise and collaboration with interagency partners play a key role in ensuring a safe and peaceful transition of power during this historic event.

U.S. Soldiers from the Alabama Army National Guard arrive at Joint Base Andrews, Maryland, to support the Joint Task Force–District of Columbia’s security mission in Southeast D.C. with foot patrols and medic support. About 2,300 National Guard members are supporting the D.C. Safe and Beautiful mission providing critical support to the D.C.
