Chief Warrant Officer 5 Michael R. Jewett

State Command Chief Warrant Officer

Chief Warrant Officer Five Michael R. Jewett is the 5th Command Chief Warrant Officer of the District of Columbia National Guard.  He is the key advisor to the Commanding General concerning all actions impacting Warrant Officer accessions, training, education, career management, and leadership development.  The Command Chief Warrant Officer enhances the Army mission by fostering leaders and developing technical experts with mentorship, advice, and counsel to all Warrant Officers. Warrant Officers are highly specialized experts and trainers in their career field making up the technical foundation of the U.S. Army.

Chief Warrant Officer 5 Jewett enlisted in the Army in 1988 and appointed a Warrant Officer in 1991.  He has served in both CONUS and OCONUS assignments as an Active Army and Army National Guard aviation warrant officer.  Chief Warrant Officer Five Jewett’s assignments include various rotary wing and fixed wing aviation positions as an Aviation Safety Officer, Instructor Pilot, Instrument Examiner and Standardization Officer.  Chief Warrant Officer Five Jewett was previously the Aviation Training Officer for the Army National Guard at National Guard Bureau where he was responsible for the programming and managing of initial entry rotary wing and graduate level aviation training.

Most recently, he served as the 7th Aviation Standardization Officer and the G-3 Sr. Warrant Officer for the Army National Guard at National Guard Bureau.  Chief Warrant Officer Five Jewett is a Master Army Aviator with over 5,000 flight hours of flight time.

 

Chief Warrant Officer 5 Jewett’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal with three bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with four bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with three bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal with one bronze star, Armed Forces Service Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with the numeral two, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Army Superior Unit Award with one bronze oak leaf cluster, Department of the Army Staff Identification Badge, Master Aviator Badge, and Air Assault Badge.

 

He is a graduate of the Warrant Officer Senior Staff Course, UC-35 Qualification Course, Instrument Flight Examiner Course, Fixed Wing Multi-Engine Instructor Pilot Course, Fixed Wing Multi-Engine Instructor Pilot Course, C-12 Qualification Course, Aviation Safety Officer Course, Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Course, Air Assault School and Initial Entry Rotary Wing Course.  His civilian education includes Secondary Education at Valley City State University, Valley City N.D.
