The D.C. National Guard Special Staff assists the Commanding General, D.C. National Guard, and the joint staff with technical, administrative, and tactical matters. The nature of their responsibilities, or statutory and regulatory requirements, requires them to have unimpeded access and a direct communication line to the Commanding General.

Ministry Teams assist commanders in ensuring the right of free exercise of religion, and provide spiritual, moral and ethical leadership to the D.C. National Guard.
