WASHINGTON,
The D.C. National Guard held a groundbreaking ceremony here to mark the beginning of construction for the new Storefront Recruiting Office for the D.C. Army National Guard.
The storefront office, which is leased on behalf of the D.C. Army National Guard by the Baltimore District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers through their Real Estate mission, will provide a more accessible location to potential recruits in the District.
“We have been working for nearly two years on this project and we are excited to see the progress,” said Maj. Amber Ellison, commander Recruiting and Retention Battalion, DCARNG. “We looked for areas that would have strong recruiting potential, maximum visibility to the public, centrally located with easy access, in a diverse community that represents the District and the uniqueness of the District of Columbia Army National Guard.”
The 2,093 square-foot storefront office is located at 2213 14th Street NW and is easily seen from the street by both vehicle and foot traffic.
“Although we had several locations that met these needs, this one far exceeded our expectations,” said Ellison. “This is going to be a beautiful new storefront and we are elated.”
The DCARNG anticipates a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony this fall.
