The District of Columbia National Guard Counterdrug Program works along side Drug Enforcement Administration - DEA at Washington Metropolitan Police Dept. stations on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day to minimize the presence and access to drugs in the community. Citizens are able to turn in unneeded drugs, keeping them out of the wrong hands. DEA has been hosting the safety initiative since 2010.
